Dr Edmund Kwong grew up in Melbourne and completed his dental degree at the University of Melbourne in 2015. He has also attained a membership in General Dental Practice at the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. Prior to joining Sia Dental Essendon in 2016, he practiced in public and private sectors across Melbourne and was a clinical instructor for final-year dental students at the University of Melbourne.

Edmund emphasises his practice on patient education and comprehensive dental care. He believes patients should have an awareness and understanding of their dental conditions and he aims to create a safe, non-judgemental environment for others to learn about their dental health.

Through his years of dental practice, he has led countless anxious patients on their journey to become confident and regular dental attenders. He states, “Our perceptions of dentistry can be tainted by unpleasant past experiences, or fear of the unknown. However, it is my duty to understand your concerns and change these perceptions by creating new positive experiences using modern techniques and a gentle approach.

Edmund has a special interest in dental sleep medicine and enjoys the collaborative approach with sleep physicians to manage snoring and sleep apnoea. He has successfully fitted hundreds of mandibular advancement splints in patients to treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea using the latest materials and 3D printing technology. He is currently pursuing the Fellowship in Dental Sleep Medicine through the Australasian Sleep Association.

Outside of work, Edmund is a long-distance runner, having completed over 25 marathons and several half-marathons. You can find him on the trails after work, preparing for the next race!
